eTwinning - promoting European partnership
eTwinning is an European initiative to promote cooperation between two or more schools from European countries. Teachers register their schools on eTwinning website: and specify their profiles. Next, they can find a partner school and exchange ideas of the project. When all the partners are ready, they can start a project.

The topic of the project can be various, it can be related to various subjects and areas of interest. The best projects are rewarded each year by National eTwinning offices in each country as well as in European competition.

eTwinning is a very good portal for schools to look for a parner school. The tools it offers (like forum, chat, twinblog, photo gallery and many others) enable students and teachers to develop their ICT skills. It is also a great chance for them to improve foreign languages and develop their abilities within the subjects included in the project. Students can not only learn in an interesting way with the help of eTwinning, but also make friends with their peers in other European countries.

'Into news!' is our second project with the four partner schools. The previous one was rewarded in Poland in June 2008. The British and the Polish school also conducted one project together. It was called 'English as a factor integrating young Europeans' and got a first prize in UK in 2006, third prize in Poland in 2007 and was in a small groups of projects nominated to European competition in 2007. We hope our cooperation will be longstanding and that this year's project is the most successful one

Zawiercie – the Polish city is located in the northern part of the Silesian district .It is situated in the central part of the Cracow-Czestochowa Upland – the area of green hills, limestone rocks, ruins of castles and fortresses. The landscape is beautiful here. It is the land of our schooI foot or bicycle tours, weekend resting of families as well as summer camps and campings. The oldest district of Zawiercie is Kromolow- the town where there is our school.
A little bit history:
In 1509. - the school was founded by a local pastor
In 1804 .- priest Rudzki (then pastor), with the help of citizens of Kromolow, built a larger brick school.
In 1919. - Wladyslaw Furgalski kept a chronicle of the school events.
After Poland regained its independence, the school building was in a very bad condition. Despite the bad condition, the youth wanted to get knowledge. Young people took care of the school building and clasrooms on their own.
1924.- a school library was settled

1937.- the school received a new building
1941 - April1942 - classes at the school were suspended
4th September 1945 - a new school year in a free country
22nd July 1951- there was given a new educational institution which still exists
Our school is called Zespol Szkol because it consists of kindergarten, Primary School and a Junior High School. Its number is 13. It is a lucky number for us. 381 pupils go to our school this year and the staff consists of 38 teachers.

The main theme of the film is love. Judyta works in a magazine for women. She is 38 years old She answers for the questions from women and sometimes from men, too. Judyta has got a daughter. Her name is Tosia. She is a rioted adolescent. One day her husband- Tomasz leaves family for his younger lover. The main heroine is depressed, because she becomes alone with the growing daughter. But soon her life extremely changes. She meets a love of her life.

In our opinions this film is worth watching. We strongly recommend it for the girls in other countries, although the boys will enjoy this film too. Also the actors playing the characters have done an extremely good job. This comedy is not so ordinary as we could think. It tells about a 'strong' woman, who can cope with problems in life after separation. I think that this film is one of the best Polish romantic comedies. You must watch it!

The gunman shot himself and died later in hospital.

Police hare revealed the notes left in his house showed his “hatred humankind” and signs he had planned the killings for some time. The Finish Prime Minister has promised a review of the country’s liberal gun laws and an inquiry into why police took no action after seeing Saari’s YouTube videos and bringing him in for questioning.

One of member of the country’s “Sotka” shooting club said increased legislation was not the answer.
He said:”The people who want a gun will get it on way or another. If not they might build a bomb”.

Hurting is a very important hobby for many of us. It’s not a scary thing. Lots of us have guns and we know how to take cara of there. It is very difficult to spot a crazy man. He might have been planned it for years”.

The similar massacre took place at a school in Jocela last November. Pekka Eric Auvinen, 18, killed eight people and also posted warnings on YouTube. He shot himself and died in hospital. The Police believe that both gunman may have contact.

Poland and Italy opposed to EU’s global warming agreement.

At the EU Summit, which started Wednesday, Poland and Italy stated their opposition to a rapid implementation of emissions reduction regulations in the EU.
Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said that Poland would veto a EU declaration on climate change if it would require a commitment to each a deal in December. Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi questioned the guidelines of the 2007 EU agreement on limiting emission of carbon dioxide, which granted each country a target based on its CO2 output in 2007. Poland is opposed to this procedure because it fears it will hamper economic growth.
Berlusconi also questioned the sense of EU guidelines if the global warming agreement is not global one and countries like the U.S. and China will not participate.
